Flats this problem I have i an old one, about 3 months ago
I had m system fresh installed, did not help,
had it pick up for repair and maintenance, and it took them long but they could not find problem and everything was cleaned and the BIOS updated, and after long tests it did not crash,
I got my system home and it was fine for a while up to now, so the only thing I can do is not break my head but focus on a new desktop, as there is nothing that can be done, all has been tried.

It has been a fine system for 5 years, easily ran wow on a 7 with high fps while raiding. Too bad !

I have now ordered new desktop and it arrives at September 24.
Gone for the heavier I7 plan as I only spent this money once every 5 years or so.

@ama in terms of processor your pc should be fine, what you can look at is to upgrade your gpu if your pc is giving no issues. Also if its been a while, consider reinstalling the OS, in windows 10 there is a nice option to do so.. !! make backups !! :-)

my pc currently: I7-4790 / 32gb ram / R480 / 500gb m2 ssd (for both windows and wow) / 4tb hdd on the side for the rest of my crap :-)

anyway, I like to keep windows fresh, so I probably do a reinstall of base OS about once every year and that does make a big difference. Only thing i'd really like to replace in the near future would be my gpu which is getting dated now and has some trouble keeping up in very demanding areas. stacking a ton of effects on top of each other on trash for example ;)

For all the upgraders, if you do need a new mainboard to support CPU and RAM. get one with at least 1 m2-nvme ssd slot, as the m2 ssd's are not more expensive but are a lot faster then S-Ata ones.

Sorry to annoy everyone with my unexplainable pc problem, which has been missing for a few months, and now has returned to me.
It is sad to see my current system going down like this, I will never know what the cause is I am afraid, and given up hopes for repair.

Right now i am making a config similar to Arzz bang for bucks system,
but then with a few plus things here and there.

One major thing I am in doubt with is that I am downgrading I7 for I5 8600K, basically for the money
(why did they make I7 so scarce)
I currently have a I7 -3770 3.40gHz , 8mb. in a 45 year old desktop, I wonder if I'lll even notice it.
What do you think?

WoW crashes for me very often now. At least 3-4 times/hour. Feels almost unplayable.

Probably just a memory problem but its an old comp like 6 years so i need a new one.
Problem is the configuration possibilities are just endless, so thanks for the posts above.
Im about to order 'something' this week.

I may be interested in one ^^

PC gaming on a Budget go for AMD with the 2nd gen Ryzen CPUs they are giving more gaming performance then anything Intell (if you doing video editing then look at saving up a little more for an intel

a few CPU options cooler
  • whilst you can use the stock cooler that comes with the cpu this will keep it lots cooler and as such you be able to get better performance and a longer life span
GPU (going for AMD base on CPU Ryzen5 or 7)
  • RX 580250
  • RX 570200
    • personally iwent for the rx580 (pink is running two of them in cross fire and i can play any game on the market in ultra setting and get 60fps +
Mobos that work witht he above and will not have therm issue (dont go cheap on you mobo its not worth it) Tower

power memory (works with all the cpu/mobo mentioned above
  • HyperX HX318C10FRK2/16 FURY 16 GB (2 x 8 GB)120
    • the board will take 4 sticks of ram and if you can budget it 32gb will see you right for a long time, 16gb is still twice what BFA recomends, you could also be 16gb now and another 16 of the same memory in a few months to speard the cost
hard drives
windows SSD and WoW SSD 2 of either or one of each or just the one 500gb for a tight budget Programs HDD optical your coming in between £760 (less if you use you current CD and HDD) and 1600, ive check all that parts listed and everything will work with everything else so feel free to pick and choose

Hey Ro,
Basic advice for a bang for buck system:
Processor: latest generation Intel core-i5 8600K or Ryzen 5 1600 or 1600X
Graphics: GTX 1060 or RX 580
Motherboard: Cheapest that works with your processor
RAM: Cheapest that works with your Motherboard and Processor
PSU: I recommend not skimping here and going with something that's at least 80+ Bronze; preferably 80+ silver or better. 500W will do the trick.
Storage: Entirely up to you.

Storage is complicated. If you decide on combining a SSD for your OS and WoW then I would recommend a minimum of 250GB and then a 1TB HDD. If you take lots of high res pictures or record your play then a larger HDD may be desirable.

And here's where true nerds look down on me - get somebody who builds computers for a living to build it. It'll cost a bit more but they'll probably do a better job of it than you and if they encounter issues, will have more experience to work around them.

You may be tempted to pick up hardware that's a generation or two old. This is never* worth it. You're always** better off just getting the latest generation hardware available***.

Dunno how are the prices in Croatia, but should be not much a difference in price:

Intel Core i5-8400 - 190 euro
MSI B360 GAMING PLUS - 100 euro
Crucial 16GB 2666MHz Ballistix Sport CL16 (2x8GB) - 170 euro
GTX 1070 8GB - whatever will be avaible - price range from 450 to 520 euro depends on a modell
Crucial 500GB 2,5" SATA SSD MX500 - 100euro - for system and wow
SilentiumPC 500W Vero L2 - 43euro (or any other 500W decent manufacturer PSU)
PC case - here you need just to pick one that you like to look at ;) Price range from 50 to 150 euro for better ones ;)

This config with the most expensive graphic card and a pc case for 75 euro should be about ~1200 euro - which sadly is just the middle-tier with today's prices of PC components, world of warcraft should run on it flawlessly. If needed a bit lower price - exchange the graphic card for some GTX 1060 6GB modell - price range from 310 to 350euro - this will dip the price to about 1000 euro at maximum, but wow will still running good :)

I'll need to buy a new PC. Can anyone recommend a configuration? Mid-level budget. It's going to be used for WoW only. I'd like it to run WoW comfortably, and that i don't need another major upgrade within 2 years.

If compromises are needed, the main requirement is to run raids smoothly, everything else is a bonus.
