I think the best strategy we can use is the one that got us a kill. For cc you don't need ranged specifically btw, unless all the melee is on interting duty.

I suspect the easiest way for us to increase dps on this one would be for people to focus some more on increasing their uptime of the residue debuff

http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/1fyg ... ll/122055/

or at least i think that's the one you get when you free ppl... or perhaps you get it from standing in fire... who knows

Erian has for example 16,1% total uptime and I saw him clicking those things like mad, so that could be a target of sorts.

Think this is also dependent on where the people are for you to click, you can go an entire attempt and no one within say 10 yards got blocked and if they were someone even closer got to them first (i have seen me run half way across the room to release a healer though).

I actually think we've improved greatly at this and have reasonably decent at getting people out quickly bar the odd one or two occasions.

Some general comments.

Prison
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=121885/amber-prison:
Yes we need to be wathing out for each other and clicking the prisons off people, but its also down to individual responsibility. Mages should be able to Iceblock http://www.wowhead.com/spell=68252 out of this once a fight. Humans should be able to use Every Man for himself http://www.wowhead.com/spell=59752/ever ... or-himself. There are likly other anti-CC abilities that work out too. If prisons are really an issue (and i suspect the actual issue is Residue (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=122055) we could talk about the use of PvP trinkets....?

Resin
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=122064 is trickier. I've heard people say that this is cast on 'Ranged' only, but i can't find that detailed anywhere in the tooltips or blogs. The issue has been that when the Resin drops in melee it does damage to the melee. Its a random effect as far as i can tell, its going to land in Melee at some point regardless? From my perspective I'd like to be stacked in the Melee so I can cast Arcane Explosion http://www.wowhead.com/spell=1449, I could Glyph it so as to stand slightly outside the Melee (maybe a good compromise) http://www.wowhead.com/item=42736?. Can someone confirm the nehaviour of the Resin debuff?

Crowd Control: Sign me up.... I found that i could effectively be in Melee doing AoE and control an add. Only issue arises when i get stuck in a Prison or if the CC goes awry and Mel'jarak clenses all the adds.... I found that the positioning of the adds and Mal'jarak meant that the CC was out of my range (we should be CC'ing the adds that are on the inner side of the groups (the outside side is adding an extra 5-10 yards for the controller to cover). Also, I noticed the range on the harpoons is further than using a traditional CC like Polymorph so recommend that we are all using them.

Kill Order: Happy for he single target or aoe approach. I think we've had more success with the aoe approach and that seems to be the more accepted approach?

As a mage we can escape the prison with blink aswell. So, basicly we can't really be kept in one for long. We can get rid of the resin with iceblock.

I didn't realise we could dump Resin with IB - That's Genius! Agree also on the Blink option, I was doing that after my IB was on CD, forgot to mention it.

For the next try, we could have aoe-strong people aoe-ing, though maybe have single-target-strong people, just focus single targeting?

Points to focus attention to:
-Move out of Wind Bombs
-If DBM shouts at you that you'll be hit by Whirling Blade, move side ways
-Click on your fellow raid members faster when they're encased

-Use your personal healing CD's and snot balls on Raining Blades in ph2

-Don't res the tank if he dies in ph2, keep res's for dps and H, we only need 1T

-Suggestion being made for healing in ph2: assign small grps with their personal H for being in range for H CD's?

I am not sure if DBM shouts if you will be hit. I know it shouts when he starts throwing it, so that is when I check if the boss is facing in my general direction. If he is, I start moving. Worst case scenario is that I will run into his blade, but because I am moving already I will only be hit when the blade is thrown and not when it returns.

I would like to check the log if it is available to see what the big killer is.

My log gave an error message last night so unfortunately there won't be any from me...

Avoidable death:

Bombs - gradual improvement

Not moving from resin - not an issue (though blades got me once running away from them, bad luck)

Korthik strike - was one-shotting early in the evening because quickening hadn't been dispelled. Fixed, and H were more aware to potential problems. Mass dispel is a must on this fight, and takes priority over dps.

Whirling blades - people don't move; you can survive the out-throw, you won't survive the return.

Rain of blades - general damage that H start to fail to cope with. I think we have to go to dedicated healers for groups. That means arranging ranged with a dedicated healer in a local vicinity, but still spread out. As dps improves this will be less of an issue.

Tank deaths - too many, don't know why. Something for tanks and their healers to figure out.

Can I recommend (again!) the add-on GTFO. I use dbm and appreciate its warnings and sounds. GTFO is a single-sound loud warning that you get whenever you're standing in crap. Recount will even tell you whether or not you moved in time.
Start every day off with a smile and get it over with.
