[FIRELANDS] Lord Rhyolith

Apparently, this guy is one of the easier (albeit odder) ones.

Wonder why you like the look of that one.... *cough*
DPS players have, by far, the most complicated task of the encounter as they are responsible for controlling Rhyolith's movements and dealing with his most important abilities.

That and a friend from another server suggested it as being the easier of the early bosses. He's at 6/7 so I took his word for it :P

As are <Gathering>, we tend to progress MUCH slower because were a 25 man guild ....there arent actually many of those out there anymore, everyones doing 10 man raids since theres no ilvl difference between 10 man and 25 man loot anymore.

Not to mention 10 mans a lot easier since bosses are weaker and you can easily weed out people that arent up to scratch and focus on telling them how to improve.

Then again, you can't carry anyone as 1/2 people down means a guaranteed wipe.

Then again, it's easier to find 10 good people for progress raids than 25 ;) Not all guilds use roll systems - the ones I know that make good progress simply choose the best squad.

Interestingly this is one fight where dots may actually be counterproductive (at least on the legs), according to the information I'm getting from one of my usual sources. Apparently the ticks make the turning a lot more erratic and hence make him harder to control - I'm assuming this is due to having "old" dots ticking on one leg whilst attempting to dps the other to move him.

Interested to see whether this is the case in practice

So as the numbers from last nights log shows, the majority of the dmg is coming from the volcanoes - Eruption. The 'lord ryolith' (2nd number) is coming from his Stomp ability. DPS (people controlling the feet) are going to have to make quick decisions and beeline for volcanoes that are erupting, and also try to minimise the amount of dmg taken from stomp I think. Also keep your eyes open for maga flows I think possibly these were finishing people off while they had low health.

Unit Amount %
Volcano 86 669 070 40.7 %
Lord Rhyolith 59 012 332 27.7 %
Fragment of Rhyolith 24 652 290 11.6 %
Spark of Rhyolith 24 544 936 11.5 %

That stomp is his raid aoe.. It knocks back ppl who are nearer than 20 yards of him, but damage from that is unavoidable.
