The conquest system seriously confused me so here's a note about that:

• Honour: across all pvp activites, you get rewards at various levels.
• Conquest: across all BfA pvp activities with two separate tracks:
  1. The one you care about for essence rank 3 is getting 500 every week to qualify for the chest that has gear depending on your highest rating but also your Burgeoning Battlefield Furor.
  2. Every week from the start of BfA you could get gear by filling the bar; this had a cap of once per week but now you can catch up by getting more than 500 per week. If I remember right the bar stops when you claim a reward but you can then make progress again if you wanted to .. but you don't . You can just wait for next week.
• To see your status: Group Finder > "Player vs. Player" tab > "Rated" section on left (this step catches people out) > admire your 3 possible ratings (2v2/3v3/10v10) and check the right hand pane for the status of your "Weekly Chest".
• Make sure to obtain and hand in stuff related to essence rank 1 and 2 asap, else you may lose a week.
• Once you have got your desired PvP rating (1400 is a decent goal so done in 5 weeks at 3/week) you do not need to do any rated activities (and perhaps risking the relevant rating dropping below a threshold), you just need to do general BfA activities like Nazjatar or unrated BG's to get conquest.
• Main wowhead guide good summary of sources - basically if not getting enough conquest from PvP getting your rating up then Nazjatar events (join via Group Finder > Premade Groups) then dailies (join via Quick Match) are best.
