Windows Vista

Post by Emesis »

So, here I am on my girlfriends lappy because my own computer has decided to take the weekend off. Since the people reading these forums probably has a higher than average knowledge about computers I thought I'd give it a go.

What happens is I cant log in. I get to the part where vista tells me it is completeing upgrades - part 3 of 3.(which it does from time to time) When it is done it restarts, and this goes on in an eternal loop. I have tried a lot. I have tried lots of different safe modes, but the computer just shuts down or restarts. I have tried my vista disc, but for some reason my computer will not read it, no matter what I try. I have tried pushing F8 to select boot devices. Nothing helps. I never had this problem on this computer before. I have read countless forums and troubleshooting. But the hints and tips doesnt work for me. I guess I will have to deliver it monday, but you never know :D

This is excactly what I have. The problem is that my dvd player will not read the vista cd. So I cant repair it. Looks like I have to deliver my computer to the experts  Thanks anyway Fungi :)

Edit: Tried booting with the vista cd on my laptop, and that worked like a charm. So it seems Vista AND my dvd-drive decided to act up at the same time. Well, I'll see you guys in a week or 2 :(

I think thats an option on Vista - in the installation its called 'old windows' and creates a dual boot system.

XP is great - Vista is not great - Windows 7 is great, everything Vista should of been.

I want to go 64bit but am concerned that half my gear has no drivers for it in 64bit :(

Anyhoooo - none of this helps your issue, my only advise is dont use vista :)
